February 11th, 2012 - Frozen Gopher Challenge - Prairie Dog Racing and the ACC Sask Section are pleased to present an inaugural winter adventure race!  The Frozen Gopher Challenge will be held on February 11th in conjunction with the PotashCorp 2012 Wintershines.  Race details are still being worked out and will be available shortly.  The race is for teams of two or three and will be 3-5 hrs long and will consist of running, skating, cross-country-skiing, skating, and snowshoeing, plus some surprise challenges.  Details and an entry form are available here.  Contact Howard Hemingson (Race Director) for more information.  

February 18th-20th, 2012 - Choppers 2012.  The annual beginners' ice climbing weekend is scheduled for February 18, 19, and 20 in Nordegg, AB.  There are currently more interested participants than spots available for this trip.  The trip details are being reviewed to either increase the allowable number of participants or perhaps create a 2nd trip to offer more ice climbing opportunities.  People who are interested in attending Choppers but haven't signed up yet are still encouraged to submit an email stating their interest.  Click here for details.

Plans are also in the works for possible backcountry skiing trips this winter.  Stay tuned for more information.

July 22nd to 27th, 2012 - Annual Section Mountaineering Camp - Little Yoho Valley; Stanley Mitchell Hut.  Registration starts February 1st, 2012.  Information will appear HERE as it is available.

All Alpine Club trip participants must be members of the Alpine Club of Canada and sign the waiver form. Waivers are available for single participants, group participants or in French.

Leading Trips Booking ACC Facilities

The Saskatchewan Section always needs trip leaders. If you have a favorite trip, have taken (or want to take) a mountain leadership course and would like to introduce others to an activity or area in the mountains, please contact us.

Note: as of May 2004, the SK Section will reimburse trip leaders any costs incurred by them while leading Section trips. Leaders must apply for reimbursement within 2 months of the completion of the trip. In addition, it is ACC practice to provide the first 2 nights at no cost for trip leaders on any Section trip that uses ACC huts.
