Sask Section Mini Mountaineering Camp 2007

After several years of talking about a Section Mountaineering Camp,  we finally set up a short one as an experiment in July.  No space was available at the Stanley Mitchell Hut, so we camped out for this one.  A number of guinea pigs (er... keen participants) showed up to make the hike to the Little Yoho Valley and whatever lay ahead of them for the next few days.

For three days, the weather was clear and very hot, so early mornings were the order of each day.  The most significant objectives in the area, the President and the Vice-President, were climbed on the first full day at the camp.  Mt, Kerr, an intermediate scramble, was climbed the next day.

Some time was taken up with some instruction about ropes, knots, glacier travel and short-roping.

Another camp is being planned for July 2008.  More information can be found here.
