Rosinger, residents of Canmore, who went on the Rockies Panorama Traverse

People Photos
Amidst all the stunning scenery and exhilarating
views, your fellow travelers on an ACC National Camp figure largely in the
satisfaction and memories you leave with. These are the people you share
your space with for 7 days, people tied to you by a climbing rope for miles on
end. Here are some images from those times together.

| Descending Mt Little on
Day 3 are Jim Barrow, Jim Nelson, Duncan McLeod and Peter Fuhrmann |
Everyone wants to take
pictures on these trips, even pictures of people taking pictures! A
photo-op of a photo-op while descending Mt Bowlen. |
No escalator on this
route - the trudge up Wenkchemna Pass en route to Lake O'Hara on Day 5. |
Part of Day 3 involved
some playing in the snow on the Fay Glacier. Practicing self-arrest
and crevasse rescue, then back to the hut for a snack, some cheese, some
sherry...... (ahhh, it's a tough life!) |
 |
 |
 |
 |
| Above the Fay Hut is a
very nice plateau, leading to rubble and moraine, with the Fay Glacier in
the distance. |
Snow patches provide an
easy walk in contrast to the rubble of the moraine. We aim for any
patch of snow we can find. |
No shortage of people
crowding around wanting to get in the picture here!! Summit group on
Mt Little |
The rope visible here
keeps Camp Manager Dave McCormick from backing up too far while getting
ready for the Mt Bowlen summit shot. |
 |
 |
 |
 |
| Peter Albinger, followed
closely by Dave and Jim, wandering down Mt Little. |
You have to love the
placement of the biffies. At the Neil Colgan Hut, it's tethered to a
narrow ridge between Mts Bowlen & Little. Mind where you put
your feet, now!! |
Descending Mt Little,
Peter Fuhrmann pauses on high ground to make sure his charges are where
they're supposed to be! |
The final day, finding
out what the "Fuhrmann Ledge" will be all about!
Here the group sorts out the ropes before moving down Mt Lefroy. |

The group, near Lake
Oesa, not far from the Swiss Ledges, on the way to Abbot Pass on Day 6. |

Plants, Critters, Scenery & Huts
This trip, spanning a week of late July, traveled
through flowered meadows and unforgettable scenery, past the occasional wild
animal, and stayed in unique, historic huts owned and maintained by the ACC.
 |
 |
 |
 |
| The alpine meadows
provided lots of photographic subjects on this trip. |
At Lake O'Hara, the
group stayed in the Wiwaxy Cabin, just next to the larger Elizabeth Parker
Hut. |
The Abbot Pass Hut,
perched on the flanks of Mt Victoria. (The biffy here is perched up
behind the hut, in case you're wondering!) |
The entrance to the
historic Abbot Pass Hut, a fine, solid, stone structure. Nice to
know in a storm!! |

 |
| Looking back over
Prospector Valley during one of the rest pauses while climbing up to the
Fay Hut |
Another beautiful day in
the mountains with some low fog in the valley below the Fay Hut. |
The Hoary Marmot, common
resident of the rocky terrain visited on the trip. |
En route to Lake O'Hara,
the group lunches in the upper Prospector Valley, also known as the
Eagle's Eyre. Opabin Pass is in the distance. |
 |
 |
|
|
| From Eiffel Lake, on day
5, there was a good view back to Mt Fay (near the Neil Colgan Hut), and
the Schiesser/Lomas route descended on Day 4. (It's down one of
those cliff areas just right of Mt Fay!) |
By the time we arrived
at the Opabin Plateau, near Lake O'Hara, we'd been on the go for nearly 10
hours. Even though we were tired and hungry, the scenery catches the eye. |
